This could really be the eye of God in which the world is slowly inscribed, moment by moment. For a long time I could not explain what I find so fascinating about photography but to some extent it is this feeling of this out-of-time, beyond-personal gaze to which I cling like an adjunct with my pictures. A world from this light has no need for a higher meaning; in fact it is both transcendent and immanent at the same time, it is not built for a certain purpose, yet it is poled, directed:

Its fulfillment is cognition. Again this cognition is a form of less rather than more. "Blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3) cites Meister Eckhart from the Sermon on the Mount in his Book of the Divine Consolation and describes in his Discourses on Instruction how the world reduces itself shell by shell to the divine core - the soul - for the perceiving in belief. This is not a mere dark mysticism but quite the contrary, a most sober satori. Only the feeling coming with it can appear like ebriety.
